Brenna is 2

Brenna is 2

I’m starting this journal at year 2 because I had been journaling on another site that has disappeared! I was heartbroken when I realized I had lost all that I had written about my first baby, Brenna. I’m hoping I can recreate and remember some of it by looking at the pictures I took of her in those wonderful first years. She turned 2 on August 25. Her baby sister was born on July 25. She doesn’t seem to be very jealous though sometime I swear she asks for food when I’m nursing the baby just to get attention. She LOVES the baby! She loves to hug and kiss her but is way too rough. She is getting better and Bradie is getting tougher so I’m not nearly as stressed when Brenna is around the baby.

Anyway, about Brenna. . . She is such a happy child. Everyone comments on how she smiles all the time. I always respond that she is always happy until we tell her “No.” She does get frustrated with us when she doesn’t get what she wants but I guess that’s just being 2. She is a picky eater, but will eat fruit, string cheese, pizza, most pastas, and get this–black olives. Of course she loves ice cream, chips and sweets too—she is a Harris! She is a great napper. She usually goes down for her nap between 2 and 3 and sleeps for about an hour and a half to 2 hours. Bedtime is a late 10 pm but I like that she sleeps until 8 am. that way. Daddy has been wonderful about taking her to the park and lake since I’m pretty busy with the baby. Sometimes we tag along but it’s mostly the Brad and Brenna show. He even takes her to Friday Night Football at local high schools. She makes friends wherever she goes. She’s so friendly! She shares well sometimes–sometimes she has to be reminded that it’s the right thing to do. We spent the summer at the local pool where she became a little fish! She loves the water and I’m hoping we can teach her to swim in the spring if not at a visit to Grandma Brenda’s in Florida. We haven’t begun toilet training yet really. We set up the potty in the office but I don’t think she’s ready. Her communication isn’t that good yet. She says alot of words that I understand. Very few that strangers would, and only a couple 2 word combinations. Mostly “Bye Bye” to everything, “It’s Todd” (which is what she calls airplanes b/c her uncle has a plane), and lately “That’s Gross.”
