Yesterday was Brenna’s first day at Westover United Methodist Preschool. I’m pretty sure we both really enjoyed it! I don’t know if she cared when I left. I hugged her and told her goodbye. I don’t know what happened after that. I was going to take a picture when I picked her up but I forgot because I was immediately taken into another room to discuss “Brenna’s Issues.” I felt like I was in trouble! Apparently Brenna had been hitting and spitting. I was so disappointed! We knew she likes to hit–not sure why–it’s usually when she’s happy that she does it–like when you’re laughing and you just kind of slap the person next to you? We’ve tried telling her to stop but nothing works. The spitting is new–kind of like really wet raspberries. I hadn’t noticed it before school but certainly did after. So now, the time out chair is back. It never really worked before so I gave up on it but we’ll try it again. I’ve got to do something besides yell at her. Anyway, the teacher said that she did stop when told to, so I guess I can’t ask for much more than that. But next week, she said that she’d dedicate her assistant just to Brenna! I was visibly embarrassed. The teacher tried to say that it was a normal thing for Brenna to need some time to get used to the structure of preschool. I can’t help but wonder what she was really thinking inside (like “geez what a brat”?).
We moved Bradie’s crib into her room last night. I got to sleep in my bed again!!! She woke up a couple times, making some noise (sort of barking) for maybe 15 minutes at 3:30 am. Apparently Brenna didn’t hear it–which is what I was most worried about. Bradie woke up again at 5 am, but didn’t fuss for very long when I told her it was too early. Now I just have to figure out how to get her to sleep later than 6:15! You can set your clock by that now.
